Gone are the days of “eye spy” and car games replaced by modern items such as the Kid-Tough Portable DVD Player and other similar gadgets.

kids dvd player & products

Now while I’m all for accumulating every known wonder gadget, I somehow feel that children of today are lacking the personal contact and family interaction that they require, in order to become the fulfilled adults we want to grow up and run this world.

However, that being said, I’m sure there are some parents who will absolutely adore this invention and perhaps, only use it sparingly, allowing the child to learn how to operate and use this nifty device all by themselves.

This invention is everything that a parent wishes for; safety, strength and the ability to entertain your children  while on long trips, I cannot help but feel sad that the children of today won’t learn to appreciate the family time, that I did as a child, on road trips.

Some Tips and Digital Cameras Made Especially for Kids
Do you have an inspiring young photographer running around your house? With the ever changing technology, older digital cameras standards have become very affordable.  There are many makes and models that cater to kids with bright colors, durable bodies, and ease of use. Digital cameras for kids are made to be easy to operate and well constructed. Here are some of the better digital cameras for kids as well as some features to look for when buying one.
Fisher Price Kid Tough Digital Camera. The binocular viewpiece makes it easy for small ones to take pictures since they can use both of their eyes to find their subject. The camera has two handle grips. You can buy an SD memory card to hold more pictures. Internal memory is 8MB which allows for up to 50 pictures. 640 X 480 resolution, best works 4 X 6. There are cheaper cameras on the market but what makes the Kid Tough digital camera different is that it comes from a trusted company. The kid tough camera is easy to hold on to and looks fairly sturdy. The camera is built to be handled roughly. It takes 4 AA batteries. This camera can supposedly stand up to being dropped, tossed, and other torture young kids might inflict. The Kid Tough digital camera comes in either blue or pink. Oregon Scientific Barbie Digital Camera - retails for just under $50.00. It also features 640 X 480 or 320 X 240 resolution. The Barbie digital camera has built in memory of 8MB. This digital camera takes two AAA batteries.

Hasbro’s VCamNow is a kids video camcorder that is also a webcam and digital camera. It retails for $89 and records video at 10 frames per second. Full motion video is 30 frames per second so don’t expect video to be fluid. VCamNow will also plug directly into the television. The 1.3 megapixel digital camera features a 4X digital zoom and 32 MB internal memory. VCamNow comes with an expandable SD media card slot. It runs on two AA batteries and is designed for kids age 8 and up.

Want sharper images at lower shutter speeds?  Famous photographer Joe McNally shows us a tip on how to hold your camera to achieve this.

Most people are a“right eye” shooter normally, but I’m going to try this technique using my left eye instead and see what happens.  He says that you’ll be able to shoot at shutter speeds (while hand-holding your camera) that you never thought possible.  Give it a try and see what happens!  Check out the video at the end of this post.

Radio controlled toys - Help

The most important step in flying a R.C. Helicopter is the setup. If your helicopter is not setup right the bird will tip side to side, frontward or backward, or the tail could spin out of control. You can see the importance of a good setup.

1. The first step in setting up a R.C. Helicopter.

· Make sure all servos are moving in the right direction When you move the right side stick right the swash plate will tilt right etc for forward and back.
· Make sure the throttle is correct and the it does not need reversed in the radio also called the TX.

2. Now that the servos are moving in the right direction we need to center the servos.

· Turn on radio then plug in receiver make sure the motor is unplugged if working on electric helicopter.
· Move the throttle stick to half way this get all your servos to the half way position.
· Now we want to find the servo horn that will line up 90 degrees with center keep moving till you find one that is close or dead on make sure to put in the screw when you find the one that works.

Here is a guide to knowing what is ok. for the kids use of electronics, kids dvd player.  Noteworthy to read, I think.

Only In Moderation
An issue that many parents struggle with is how to manage their child’s TV watching habits. Just like many other things, moderation is the key. Television can both stimulate and stifle a child’s development. Knowing when and how much television to allow your children to watch is a very important aspect of parenting that many parents overlook.

Some of the negative affects of television include:

Children who consistently spend more than 4 hours per day watching TV are much more likely to be overweight.

Radio controlled toys are out.  Outdoors that is.  There is water to sail the controlled ships in.

The first general use of radio control systems in models started in the early 1950s with single-channel self-built equipment; commercial equipment came later. The advent of transistors greatly reduced the battery requirements, since the current requirements at low voltage were greatly reduced and the high voltage battery was eliminated. In both tube and early transistor sets the model’s control surfaces were usually operated by an electromagnetic escapement controlling the stored energy in a rubber-band loop, allowing simple on/off rudder control (right, left, and neutral) and sometimes other functions such as motor speed.[1]

Crystal-controlled superheterodyne receivers with better selectivity and stability made control equipment more capable and at lower cost. Multi-channel developments were of particular use to aircraft, which really needed a minimum of three control dimensions, (yaw, pitch and motor speed) as opposed to boats, which can get away with two or one.

It doesn’t seem to matter how old the kid is.  Most have not learned to respect the electronics given to them.  The little iPods are even thrown into the toy box with the rest of the stuff.  Durable and tough is good for the wee folk.  But, tough is good for the older ones, seven, eight and nine years old, and up.

Kids dvd player, and other electrical play things, are in a good plastic too.  Colors are still bright.  Sometimes a parental control option is also included so you can restrict what your child watches.  Without parental supervision the electrical players and such can end-up in a pile, and not in the proper shelves which they supposed to go.  But, on a positive note… maybe there are some kids who put there toys away?

Radio control?  What a variety there is for radio controlled toys.  Control for the toys is not difficult.  Some of the favorites remain - the airplanes.

A little information: Remote control military applications are typically not radio control in the direct sense, directly operating flight control surfaces and propulsion power settings, but instead take the form of instructions sent to a completely autonomous, computerized automatic pilot. Instead of a “turn left” signal that is applied until the aircraft is flying in the right direction, the system sends a single instruction that says “fly to this point”.

Some of the most outstanding examples of remote radio control of a vehicle are the Mars Exploration Rovers such as Sojourner.

It’s great fun to play with the radio controlled toys.  Here’s a bit of history on radio control.                          Today radio control is used in industry for such devices as overhead cranes and switchyard locomotives. Radio-controlled teleoperators are used for such purposes as inspections, and special vehicles for disarming of bombs. Some remotely-controlled devices are loosely called robots, but are more properly categorized as teleoperators since they do not operate autonomously, but only under control of a human operator.

I don’t know what thrills my granddaughter the most her new kids dvd player or the new soft soap push-down soap bottle in the bathroom.  She is excited about both of them.  Actually it is the digital toy camera.

It’s a dependle brand name.  It is rough and rugged.  It is colorful, and it is safe for her to use.  It is right up-to-date with what is on the market;  she can talk to all her little friends about it.
