Radio controlled toys are ever so popular. The first general use of radio control systems in models started in the early 1950s with single-channel self-built equipment; commercial equipment came later. The advent of transistors greatly reduced the battery requirements, since the current requirements at low voltage were greatly reduced and the high voltage battery was eliminated.

In both tube and early transistor sets the model’s control surfaces were usually operated by an electromagnetic escapement controlling the stored energy in a rubber-band loop, allowing simple on/off rudder control (right, left, and neutral). and sometimes other functions such as motor speed.[1]

Portable DVD players can be useful for business, and can keep the kids entertained wherever you go! DVDs are now the accepted international medium for buying movies and other videos. Portable players mean you can keep yourself (or your kids!) entertained wherever.  If you have a TV but no DVD player, you can connect your portable DVD player to the TV and watch movies on the bigger screen – perfect for the hotel too.

kids dvd player -
best place to start when picking out appliances for your child’s room is to choose appliances that are educational. Kids learning tools are often electronic, but are easy to operate, come in fun colors and have multitudes of games, so your child is sure to be interested in learning this way.

Other kids electronics you’ll want to incorporate are more basic. Kids clocks with large digits and hands make it fun for kids to learn to tell time, and when they get older, fun kids alarm clocks will help them wake up for school in the morning.

If your child is an early movie buff or has favorite cartoons, a kids TV may also be something you’ll want to include. When viewing time is kept in moderation, having their own TV to view favorite shows can turn a kids room into a welcome retreat for a child, and it may also give you a little break to reclaim the living room. Like computers, kids TVs come in bright colors and are very easy to use. A small DVD player, such as a portable DVD player, is a great addition for movie watching that won’t take up a lot of space in the room.

After Christmas we are all looking for special prices.  Refurbished or reconditioned in the description of the product is a good way to buy electronics.  Here is a explanation of what  recondtioned digital cameras means.  Product qualifies as refurbished, as the internal mechanisms that may be unaffected by the cosmetic damaged are still checked.

Demonstration Units - Defect During Production - In any assembly line production process, a specific component can show up as defective because a faulty processing chip, power supply, disc loading mechanism, or other factor. Most of the time, this is caught before the product leaves the factory, however, defects can show up after the product hits store shelves.  As a result of customer returns, inoperative demos, and excessive product breakdowns within the warranty period of a specific element in the product, a manufacturer may “recall” a product from a specific batch or production run that exhibits the same defect.  When this occurs, the manufacturer can repair all the defective units and send them back out to retailers as refurbished units for sale.

Overstock Items - Most of the time, if a retailer has an overstock of a particular item they simply reduce the price and put the item on sale or clearance. However, sometimes, when a manufacturer introduces a new model, it will “collect” the remaining stock of the older models still on store shelves and redistribute them to specific retailers for quick sale. In this case, the item can be sold either as “a special purchase” or can be labeled as refurbished.

The smarter travelers know that battery life is precious, so why would you waste your laptop’s battery on a movie when you can whip out a portable DVD player?  the eye catching little units also provide great backseat entertainment for the whole family, kids too, on long road trips.  Big and smaller screens, and kids dvd players by toy manufactures also.  The idm portable dvd player is a great make.

Another good model  type would be: a portable DVD player with 8.5-inch collapsible screen; excellent digital file support includes DivX, MPEG4, MP3, WMA, JPEG compatibility; long-life battery; includes AV connectivity wires and car charger.

Rule of Thirds - Understanding the Rule of Thirds - an image can be divided into 9 equal parts by two.  I wanted to know if I was following the right rules for composition.

Trying to create good photos for my coby digital photo frame.  Trying to show-off some pictures, all set-up nice for the kids.  Thinking about getting the kids their own.

The rule of thirds

appears as early as 1845 as a rule for proportioning scenic paintings.  The rule of thirds is a compositional  rule of thumb in photography and other visual arts such as painting. The rule states that an image can be divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines. The four points formed by the intersections of these lines can be used to align features in the photograph.  Proponents of this technique claim that aligning a photograph with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the photo than simply centering the feature would. The photograph to the right demonstrates the application of the rule of thirds. The horizon sits at the horizontal line dividing the lower third of the photo from the upper two-thirds. The tree sits at the intersection of two lines, sometimes called a power point. Points of interest in the photo don’t have to actually touch one of these lines to take advantage of the rule of thirds.  For example, the brightest part of the sky near the horizon where the sun recently set does not fall directly on one of the lines, but does fall near the intersection of two of the lines, close enough to take advantage of the rule.  The application of the rule of thirds to photographs is considered by many to make them more aesthestically pleasing and professional-looking. The rule of thirds can be applied by lining up subjects with the guiding lines, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line instead of the center, or allowing linear features in the photograph to flow from section to section. In addition, many photographers recommend treating any “rule” of composition as more of a guideline, since pleasing photographs can often be made while ignoring one or more such rules.  When photographing or filming people, it is common to line the body up with a vertical line, and having the person’s eyes in line with a horizontal one.  If filming a moving subject, the same pattern is often followed, with the majority of the extra room being in front of the person (the way they are moving).  Footnote: What about the rule-of-thirds?  I don’t think that you have to stop to divide each image into its parts to decide what to put in the frame.  By the time you do that, the ‘decisive moment’ may have passed.

Do remember when … you got the handed-down the scratched-up toys.  You weren’t the the first kid in the family.  So, you decided that as a parent… your second child was not going to get hand-me-downs.  You were very idealistic about new things at first.  But then another child was born, and another.  So your family does the toy swap thing.

Then Susie wants what Jill wants.  You do doubles - buy two.  Grandma has trouble shopping too, for her little (not so little) toy box.  But, Grandma came-up with a solution to please the kids.  Grandma realized that there are reconditioned electrical toys nowadays;  they are like new.

Even the toys the kids are asking for are out-there, like a kids dvd player.  Reconditioned toys are products with a (R) are Refurbished Products which is the same as new has been tested to meet manufacturers specs. And the Warranty reflects the price. All products with a (R) = Carry a Manufacturers 90 day Warranty.

My friend needed help in reading histograms on his samsung digital cameras.  I had to look-up further understanding for myself.  I was not sure that I was reading the histogram right.

There is always so much to learn.  The more settings there are the more figuring there is!

Optical Picture Stabilization, which physically adjusts the CCD

Optical Picture Stabilization, which physically adjusts the CCReading your histogramHistograms What it is: A way of judging the exposure of an image on camera, without relying on minuscule and often inaccurate LCD screens. Where to find it: Typically, histograms can be found by changing the display mode during image playback on your digital camera, or by enabling live histograms in your digital camera settings. What it does: An image that looks perfect on the digital camera doesn’t always turn out that way. It’s frustrating to take a photograph you love when you see it on your digital camera’s LCD screen, only to get home and find the highlights are blown or the detail is lost in the shadows. Histograms are one way to get a better idea of what you are actually seeing. A histogram is a way of visually displaying the image data within a photograph. It is a graph of the pixels within your image based on brightness. Darker pictures are crowded on the left-hand side, with brighter pictures on the right. A good exposure has no brightness data that touches either of the outside boundaries of the graph on the right or left side - that indicates clipping. By looking at your histogram, you can judge whether there will be any clipped highlights or shadows. If there is, adjust your shutter speed or aperture accordingly and retake the shot. Images that are overexposed will have a histogram that has brightness data clipped on the right-hand side. Many digital cameras today are beginning to have live histograms that will indicate the exposure setting before you take the shot. This can be immensely helpful, so check to see if it is an option on your digital camera. What to watch out for: Chewing up your battery life looking at the histogram display. Otherwise, there really is no downside to using histograms.
